OTW DIY trip kits
Our routes, your own pace
A trip kit is one of our group trips, handed over to you. The same route, the same stays, and the same guides, drivers and hosts we use ourselves, laid out day by day so you can travel it on your own dates.
I started OTW to show people the places I love that are underrated, or a little harder to figure out on your own. I can only lead so many trips a year, so the kits are my way of handing over everything I know: the planning, the insights and my personal contacts, so more people can take an OTW-designed trip without needing me to be there.

Why a trip kit
This is more than a guidebook
A guidebook gives you hundreds of options and leaves the research, comparing and deciding to you. A trip kit hands you the answers. You’re getting the route, the partners and the knowledge we’ve built up from travelling there ourselves, and normally keep for our group trips.
Your time
Hours of research, gone
Think of the evenings you’d spend reading blogs, saving reels, comparing hotels and messaging tour operators, and still not knowing if you’ve got it right. That’s done. Every stop, stay and transfer has been tested by us on the ground, so you can book with confidence.
Your money
Fair prices, not tourist prices
You get our partner rates with the guides, drivers and hosts we use on our own trips. They’re people we trust, so you know you’re not being ripped off, and the savings on the ground can easily cover the cost of the kit.
Our knowledge
Everything we know, handed over
Our personal contacts, our trusted partners and everything we’ve learned from travelling the route ourselves. This is the information we normally keep for our group trips. It’s the closest thing to having us with you, without us there.
A guidebook vs an OTW trip kit
| A guidebook | An OTW trip kit | |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | Every option, for you to research and choose between | One tried and tested route, with the decisions already made |
| Planning time | Days of reading, cross-checking and booking, and still not knowing if it’s right | Tens of hours saved. Follow the plan |
| Prices | Whatever you’re quoted on the day | Our partner rates with people we trust, so you pay a fair price |
| Contacts | Listings anyone can find online | Our personal contacts: the guides, drivers and hosts we work with |
| Where it comes from | Written for every kind of traveller | Curated from travelling the route ourselves and tested in person |
| Day to day | Up to you to piece together | Day-by-day instructions with timings and transport |
| What it covers | Sights, places to stay and places to eat | Everything from visas, permits and medical prep to money, packing, culture and history |
| Length | Hundreds of pages to filter | Over 100 pages, all for one route |
Check out, follow the plan and enjoy the ride.

FAQs
How is this different from a guidebook?
A guidebook gives you options. A trip kit gives you a plan: the route we run ourselves, our personal contacts and day-by-day instructions, so you don’t spend days researching and deciding.
What does the kit cover?
Everything you need for the trip, not just what to do on the ground: visas and permits, medical and insurance, money, packing, transport, where to stay, culture, history and useful phrases. The India kit runs to over 100 pages.
What format is the kit?
A PDF you can download straight after checkout. Keep it on your phone or print it out.
Can I use it offline?
Yes. Once it’s downloaded, the PDF works without signal, which helps in the mountains.
Are bookings included?
No. The kit gives you everything you need to book yourself, with our links, contacts and partner rates, and you pay providers directly.
How up to date is it?
We review each kit after running the trip ourselves, so the route, stays and contacts reflect what we found on the ground.
Can I get a refund?
As it’s a digital download, we can’t offer refunds once it’s been downloaded. If something isn’t right, get in touch and we’ll help.
Does it count towards a group trip?
Yes. If you join an OTW group trip, the price of your kit comes off your trip.
