ABOUT OTW

Travel beyond the obvious

At OTW, we don’t do “popular” travel. We design journeys that take you beyond the obvious tourist sights and into the places, stories, and homes that most travellers never get to see. Every itinerary is intentionally designed to support local people, minimise pressure on overcrowded sites, and help you explore in a way that’s responsible, authentic, and genuinely meaningful.

This isn’t just adventure for adventure’s sake. It’s about connection. You’ll share moments with local people, gain fresh perspectives and experience each destination with a community of curious, like-minded travellers.

If you’re confident and up for the challenge, you can lead our trips to new destinations if you join our trip leader network. We’ll cover the costs of the trip for you – our way of trying to keep meaningful travel affordable.

Note from the founder

Hey! I’m Fiona. After traveling through 60 countries, I realised my best memories weren’t from the tourist hotspots or the big “must-see” wonders. They were the random conversations, the unexpected detours, the spontaneous moments that stuck with me long after the flight home.

Before OTW, I spent years in the corporate world – from managing TV strategy to being on the leadership team at an early-stage art startup. I learned a lot but every time life got too polished or predictable, travel brought me back to what actually mattered: connection, curiosity and discovery.

That’s why I started OTW. I wanted more people to experience travel that feels real – the messy, meaningful, beyond-the-obvious kind. The kind where you actually meet the people who live there, not just tick off landmarks.

OTW stands for Off The Wall – a throwback to the scrappy travel blog I used to run, and a pretty accurate description of the adventures we’re all about. If you’re into unconventional trips, community vibes, and discovering places most tourists don’t even know about, you’re in the right place.

Hope to travel with you soon,

Fiona
